Painting with Soft Pastels one day course

Location
All classes held at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Church Road, Kington, Herefordshire. HR5 3AG. Car park can be found at the rear and the front of the hall for easy access. The hall is fully equipped with kitchen and accessible facilities.

What to expect
The classes are suitable for mixed abilities from beginners interested in learning how to draw and paint, and for more advanced levels who are eager to learn new techniques and skills.

A friendly, accessible environment in which to learn is of utmost importance to me as an experienced tutor and practioner of my artwork. The classes are structured with demonstrations, group discussions and practical activities along with one to one support.

Things to bring for painting:
(Refrshments provided throughout sessions).
For full day courses bring a packed lunch.
A4 ringbound sketchbook (120gm cartridge paper ideally).
Water container (any glass/ plastic container).
Apron. Rags/old cloth.
Palette (non porous plate will be suitable).
Materials will be available to use, though if you do have pencils/ brushes/ acrylics you want to bring for your own personal use then please do.

Things to bring for pastels:
Please bring a packed lunch.
Pack of soft pastels (NOT oil pastels).
Pack of Blu-tack or similar.
Fixative spray (alternatively hair spray will suffice).
Apron.
Printed image of a landscape.
Pastel paper. Specialised pastel paper, recommended as the tutor’s preferred surface, can be purchased at cost on the day.

Health and safety:
The hall is well ventilated for comfort. Be aware working with pastels can create dust which the tutor will monitor accordingly.
