Norfolk Painting Holidays and Courses

WHAT TO BRING

Materials and equipment:

Depending on which type of medium you wish to learn, you will need the following items:

MEDIUM PAINTS SUPPORT BRUSHES MISCELLANEOUS
PASTELS Any range & selection Tinted pastel paper. Pastel sandpaper (if you can get it) Old tooth brush Blue tack
Fixative or hair spray
ACRYLIC /GOUACHE *(see over leaf) Pad 120grm white cartridge. Thick card (recycled packaging simply primed both sides with an emulsion paint any colour ) 3 acrylic brushes (small/ medium/ large) Water container Palette (an old plate is perfect)
WATERCOLOUR *(see over leaf) Block of watercolour paper 140grm 3 watercolour brushes (small/ medium/ large) Water container Palette (an old plate is perfect)
OILS *(see over leaf) Pad canvas oil paper. Oil boards or canvases. Thick card (recycled packaging simply primed both sides with emulsion) 3 oil brushes (small/ medium/ large) Screw top container. Turpentine/ white spirit. Rags. Palette (an old plate is perfect)
DRAWING Range of pencils/ charcoal & chalk/ Conte crayon or pastel 90grm white cartridge paper. Tinted paper.   Putty rubber
Fixative or hair spray

 

*Always purchase individual tubes of paint rather than a set. The cool and warm range of primary colours are all you will require to make a vast range of colours; with the addition of white and black tints and shades can be achieved.

Zinc or titanium White Mars or lamp Black

Please note that not all types of supports are required; choose one from the selection for your particular medium.

Materials and equipment continued: Rucksack or holdall for carrying your items.

Fold-up chair

Easel and drawing board (not essential)

2 x bull dog clips

A3 sketch book (90grm cartridge paper), HB/ 2B/ 6B pencils

Camera (not essential)

Clothing:
Sun hat, wind/ waterproof jacket and sensible shoes.

All locations are easily accessible by foot and do not require any degree of fitness. As mentioned in ‘ABOUT THE COURSE’, these classes are open to all. If you have mobility difficulties or other health issues, please let me know in advance and then I can accommodate you in modifying the itinerary to suit accordingly.

If the weather is particularly inclement, an indoor alternative will be provided.

Water bottle, flask (optional) -there will always be places nearby to purchase drinks and food.
