Intermezzo
Intermezzo String Quartet was established in 1997 – each of us having studied and played in various musical disciplines. These include Orchestras, Ensembles, Solo Work and Irish folk.
Our presentation and sound is of professional quality, having studied with Howard Davis, founder leader of the world renowned Alberni String Quartet and former professor at the Royal Academy of music in London. (Now retired from both positions)
Our versatility is expressed in our extensive repertoire, which ranges from Baroque, Early Classical, Romantic and Jazz, to current favourites including many popular love songs.
The quartet is ideal for any special occasion – be it a wedding ceremony, reception, dinner/garden party or a business function. These can all be enhanced with beautiful music. We take great pride in our ability to provide an appropriate programme to suit you requirements; we guarantee it will be enjoyed by all musical tastes!
art lessons
I provide art lessons to individuals wishing to learn new techniques or improve on existing skills. I will teach you the basics of observational drawing to accurately identify what you are actually ‘seeing’ – an important part of developing your creativity. These rudiments would include tone, mark-making perspective, shape and form.
I can introduce the pupil to painting mediums such as oils, watercolours, pastels and acrylics, and mixed media. I allow the individual to express their own desires in terms of subject matter – if it is landscape, still life or portraiture – and I will advise in any of these areas.
The lessons are conducted on a one to one basis at a rate of 20.00 per hour (or 30.00 for a two hour lesson). All lessons are conducted at my home in central Peterborough unless otherwise arranged.
Throughout the year I arrange group painting days at various venues in and around Peterborough such as Flag Fen and the Green Backyard.
violin and viola lesson
I provide tuition for both violin and viola for individuals wishing to learn the instrument as a complete beginner or for those wanting to improve on their existing skills. I will teach the pupil to read music and also encourage the ability to play by ear as I find that this does help to develop a greater sense of musicality.
I allow the individual to express their own interests in terms of the style/ genre of music they wish to learn – whether it be classical, folk, jazz, etc – and I shall give guidance on this.
The lessons are conducted on a one to one basis at a rate of 20.00 per hour lesson. For younger children a half hour lesson is often recommended at 15.00.
The lessons are conducted from my home in central Peterborough.
I also provide Music Theory lessons, and Piano for beginners.
