Norfolk Painting Holidays and Courses

ABOUT THE COURSE

It is a course to suit all levels of ability; the only criteria being for a desire to draw and paint.

The course caters for pastels but you can choose any medium to work with. If, as a beginner, you are unsure, then there will be materials available for you to try and then make your own choices from your judgement and the tutor’s recommendations. Acrylics, oils, gouache and watercolours all possess very different characteristics. Drawing, whether in pencil or charcoal will be encouraged. For those of you wanting to use pastels it is a medium of immense capabilities and versatility. It can be used to portray the subtleties of tone in clouds and distant hills as well as capturing energetic representations of rushing water or vibrant flora. It has the benefit of being easily portable as a medium, especially for working outdoors. It can be applied quickly in bold strokes or more carefully for detail and clarity. However you wish to express yourself in this ‘dry paint’ medium, you will be able to with ease and confidence, under the helpful guidance, useful tips and encouraging advice.

The tuition will combine both group and individual tutoring. At the beginning of each session a demonstration shall be given by me. This enables you to observe specific techniques that can be used in representing a particular view to be studied that day, and to ask questions.
